Anyone know a better place to buy one than the super expensive yamaha store in Yongsan? |

I've seen a Yamaha electric drum set on display at Costco a few weeks ago; it looked really nice. The price was just over a million won, but it looked like ti came with everything necessary. |

I saw an add here on Dave's for a Yammy DTXpress 3 for 1.2M WON. That kit goes for ~$550 here in NYC. I'm thinking about bringing my Roland TD-7 with me if I can't sort things out before I get over there in September.
Would it be wise for me to bring my own? |

Congrats. I've always wanted one of those sweet Rolands.
You could also have a Korean friend look for a used one online.
There's also a few places in the Insadong Nakwon Arcade that sell them. Jongno 3 ga station, exit #5. They could be cheaper there, but I wouldn't bet on it. |

Yeah, that one's pretty sweet. I got to play on it for a few minutes until several CostCo drones ran over to shut me down. It's cheaper back home, but I'd still pay the money for it if I had room in my apartment. |

So what, you have to pay more here. Impulse buying for instruments is the norm. Make sure the drum trigger module has an English interface. Buy it and enjoy it. It's music not business. |

i bought a roland TDK-6v set a few months back from cosmos music store in busan. they have another cosmos store in the big music warehouse near insadong in seoul. can't remember how much i paid but we did knock him down quite a bit from his asking.
one big problem if you play double bass pedals (which i do) the electric bass drum head does not pick up double bass very well at all if you play fast (which i really do). its not a question of power (i have that) its a question of the trigger in the bass drum head not doing its job well enough. i need to tune it further i guess.
still a VERY worthy investment - have not had ONE complaint from any neighbour regarding the kit. sound goes through a cable to the PC line in and i control the volume from there. |
