Ok...yet again I've been offered a job at a school where the Franchise itself has had some pretty horrible reviews. I don't suppose there's a chance that this school in particular is any good????? Anyway, I wasn't able to find out any details on this particular branch and thought someone might have some first or second hand knowlege with this particular school....Also, is Gangseo considered Metro Seoul or is it on the 'out skirts'???
Thanks

Stay away from them.....I don't know about that particular school but really LCI? If you have done any research, know that they offer sub standard pay, horrible hours (especially if you are a female Canadian) and too much prep.

Ive been reading your posts, i too am from canada, kingston actually.... and you sound alot like me before my first year. Here are my words of advice to you. Go to Seoul. Not Pusan. It seems like you are looking for fun, foreingers.... yes there in Pusan, but Seoul is so much more abundant. Also, if you want to party, drink, dance, meet foreign friends..... hang out in Itaewon. I know im going to get blasted for saying that, but really. This is where many of the girls meet their niche at first. Its easy, fun, exhausting, crazy, dirty, gross.........but a BLAST! It was my year long spring break. I had never drank, partied, and screwed so much in my life...... i cannot stress the fun of it for most young girls. After your sick of it there, which we get eventually, move on to bigger, better and more culture. Also, in seoul, since you said you like to get out an do stuff, their is Bukhanson national park, my bf and i frequented their trails when i was living in Seoul. Seoul is diverse. Great. And the beaches in Pusan are a joke anyway. If you call a million people on a beach, staring at you and pointing, and trying to talk english relaxing...fine, but really, haha people certainly do not come to korea for its beaches

Ok....back to looking for a school....if your set on getting a job before you come.....stop asking for advice on certain schools here....its better to get email addresses for foreigners at potential schools!! If their isn't any, move on.....better yet, the school should actually phone you and let the foreigner talk to you.

Also, remember, you are a young, female, Canadian, you have first choice here. Don't take a split shift, go for 25 hours a week, not 30, at least 2.0 million, and not over 7 hour block shift...with prep included in that. If your not getting the above things, and private housing (also get pics) then you are not trying hard enough.

cheers.

Hey Osangrl,
Thanks for the details. Seoul is sounding more and more fun. You know exactly what fun I'm looking for!!! I'll peek around for some info on the Itaewon. I must say, I have been doing a lot of research but it's frustrating with all these recruiters coming back to me with the same five schools all the time. It makes you think that there are no others to consider. However, I know there's lots out there....Then you finally get a contract with a smaller school but you can't find out didley on them. AHHHHHH!!!! So frustrating. I'm sure with perserverance and a little luck, I'll find something.
So you're from Kingston eh??? Don't know anyone from there....I'm from the East Coast...PEI actually....amazing beaches but not too much else to do other than basking in the sun. However, the last 10 years I've been in Halifax, which is a pretty ROCKIN' FUN place.
If you think of anything else, let me know!!!
Cheers

They come back with the same schools because those jobs are always open, they have a hard time finding suckers and are seeing if you'll take the bait.

Those schools have horrible reputations for a reason, granted, there are good individual schools but I would say for LCI that is a VERY small minority (I worked at a nightmare one and believe me, it is NOT worth working for any school in the LCI chain unless you can come to Korea and check it out yourself).

Keep with the same recruiter and tell them exactly what you want, and don't accept those shit jobs they throw at you right off the bat. Eventually you'll get a decent contract.

It may take longer but it will save your immortal soul when you do come here to work.

Thanks MaxPower...I appreciate it!! I figured as much but it's nice to know I'm on the right track and sticking with my wish list is the right way to do things.
I'll keep looking around....
