Sorry for the double post, but I couldn't find the first post that I read about it.
We just booked our reservations for the mud festival in Boryeong this next week. If you want the website link it is in this post. Some very good footage of the previous 10 events.

The planners expect upwards of just over a million to 1.5 million visitors during the festival that begins on July 12 and runs through July 20 on Daecheon Beach. The cost for housing is quite steep (compared to what we are used to paying for travel accommodations when we go to festivals), but for the events and such it should be a good time.
I guess from what my wife told me from the Korean version, it is considered the largest cultural event that takes place in Korea. This is saying something since there are more than 350 festivals that take place annually in Korea. Since January this year we have taken in about 25 festivals across the peninsula, and it has been a great time. We took a lot of photos and film that I am hopeful to put into some kind of travel series that we will use for whatever purpose.
Anyway, those of you planning on going, you definitely won't be disappointed. I know it is the beginning of the rainy season, but the fun should make all things equal. Get out and go, and you won't regret it. |
