Should my school give me yearly tax papers, or are ones from the national tax office good enough for future official use such as submitting to Revenue Canada? |

Bump.
Just wondering. My administration office won't give me a yearly statement of tax, and they say I should just get one from the tax office. I'd really like to see if the papers match, plus I'd rather not go to the tax office yet anyway. I'd just like to get the one that I think they should give me, and go to the tax office when I leave Korea. |

Some questions here:
1. Which papers are you talking about? I assume the form you'd get from the tax office coupled with your own monthly settlement sheets. The yearly settlement sheet from your employer should be something you can get easily, but only at the end of the year. However, you can use your pay stubs to check on them today if you need to. Does your employer give you monthly pay stubs?
2. Are you new here? You're exempt from paying Korean taxes your first two years if you're from the US and a couple of other countries. I don't know if Canada is on the list. Maybe. Maybe not. You will see deductions, however, which you'll have refunded when it's all over at the end of your commitment IF you're exempt. This assumes your employer is turning it over to the tax office like he's supposed to. Some get sneaky and deduct your taxes but pocket it instead of paying it to the government. |

This is what I want. I just realized ( ) I don't have these for the last two years, and I want them. The administration office is being lazy and doesn't want to give them to me.
Their monthly statements are mediocre at best. Lunch fee, pension and tax are shown, but it doesn't even begin to take account of extra work and severance. Generally a mess, and the yearly account is the only way of having a clear account. |

I'm encountering the same problem at my outfit. In my case, I'm caught in the crossfire between two warring camps and have to pay the price. When Koreans in different departments and offices don't like each other, it can be a bitch getting them to move cooperatively on your behalf. |
