So easy! It took the same amount of time at the ATM yesterday to transfer money home as it would do to withdraw cash. It's the first time I've done it and I had to share as it's made me happy.
Money in my bank in the UK today and only 5k fee (it's usually 12k over the counter).

Does KB do that also? I have a remittance account with KEB. It's really made life a lot simpler for me. I just go to an atm, and send money from my savings account into my remittance account, and it gets posted to my bank back home within a day. |

It's in English so pretty easily....press "English" then to the right you'll see Overseas Remittance, just follow through from there. |

Anyone willing to post a quick tutorial on how to set up a remittance account and link it to one at home (i.e. "home" meaning Canada)? |

I tried this but it printed out a receipt that said "take this to a bank employee" and we did what I think was just a regular wire transfer. They charged me 17,000 won. (I think.) Maybe now my home account is set up with my account here? |

I went to Woori bank, with my wife (she's Korean) to set up internet remittance and was told that foreigners can't remit unless it's in-person.
I guess that's the response out in the sticks.
Banks in Korea, each branch makes up a different set of rules so they don't have to deal with anything new. Gotta luv 'em... |

That's a pain in the ass. No one at the bank speaks enough English to tell me anything like that so I don't know if that is their rule too. Probably. |

Honestly no guide is needed - if you have an account with KB and have done an over the counter transfer before then all your details are (or seem to be) already stored. Just go to an ATM, press English and then look at the right hand side. Press Overseas Remittance - I think the next screen showed my account in the UK for confirmation, then the next screen asked for the amount to transfer in won. It was all in English - I got a receipt saying how much I had transferred (in GBP which was handy) and then the next day it was in my bank. |

That's awesome! I noticed that the Overseas Remittance option had popped up over the last couple of months but was dubious about how to do/whether it would work. I'll have to try it out tomorrow. |

KB has very good English ATM service.
No confusion, clearly labled and easy to use. |

My problem with the ATM overseas transfer is that the screen says the limit is 6 million won. Even though it says this right on the screen, it's wrong: the limit is $5,000 US. They need to fix that. |
