4 options:

1) borrow a copy
2) go to the tunnel at Yongsan and buy an "unauthorized distribution" copy (about 20k won).
3) go to the Microsoft shop in the terminal building and buy a new copy (110k won for the English OEM version of Home and up to 160k for Pro).
4) download a copy from your favorite torrent site, burn it onto a CD and use that (crack and/or key not required).

pick one.

IF you choose #1 or #4, make sure it is the same as the version you are using.

ttompatz - I am looking to buy "genuine XP in English" but I'm not sure exactly where you mean by the terminal building for the microsoft shop. Is this Yongsan?

I had this same problem a few months ago. After several days of trial and error, the way I finally got the IME installed was to download the installation "CD" from mininova. You don't have to burn it to a CD, though, if you have image-mounting software like Alcohol 120% or Magic .iso. Mount the image to any virtual drive, then when windows asks where the file is, browse and open the virtual drive and voila!

Yongsan, the big blue building across the tracks from the station.
