I work at a school that was recently bought by new owners. The previous boss did not pay for may and the new bosses did nothing to help me out. This is one of many problems that drove me to quit.

I found another job and told them that I will be starting at a new school. My new job is to start on july 14th. I quit on July 3rd. I have no contract or E2 visa for that matter. My bosses wanted me to give them 6 weeks notice, but that is impossible as I have applied for the visa and signed a contract with my new school.

Today the boss came up to me with a piece of paper asking for my information. including Id number and passport. I refused to fill it out.

I understand that I can leave my job for my new one easy enough but i live with my girlfriend who is employed at my current school, so they will know where i live. What are the chances of legal reprocussions or getting booted from the country. I mean If i deny working there as a teacher and they have no real record of me except for the pay. can I get in trouble?

By 'current school' do you mean the newest one? If so you should be all right if there are no housing issues. Did you ever have an E2? If not, the only way they could get you in trouble is if they also want to get themselves in trouble; I can't see that happening.

They would get in trouble too. Don't give them any information about the new job they'll just bad mouth you to the new boss. Just disappear, don't answer the door or phone, get your new visa and come back.

Also the boss came up to you today? Why are you still working there? It's illegal and they probably won't pay you.

Otherwise I think you're safe.

Your old boss is pissing in the wind cause he can't screw the foreigner any more and his whitey is now gone with no hope of easy replacement.

There is nothing he can do to you that won't get himself in more trouble than you would be - especially if your new position is legal with a valid E2 BEFORE you start work.

You do know you're not going to get paid right? Don't go back there to work thinking you're doing them a favor, cause it sure isn't going to be reciprocated. Best advice. Stop showing up there. Get your new E-2 squared away, and get legal.

Show up before class and tell them u want the money upfront before teaching if they don't agree say see ya later.

I have been paid for june. I will not recieve anythign for July. I have accepted that. I will be starting at my new job on the 14th so i will at least get that. It is a hard decision to just quit because my girlfried works there, I dont want her to have to pick up my slack, or be treated differently. I just wanted to confirm that if I stay strong with them and say I can not work after the specified date, regardless of their feelings for my decision, that I will not be in any real trouble. Trust me if it wasnt for her working there, I would have left long ago. but we do share an appartment which is in their name. hope they dont try to kick me out. hah

The school might get you on the staying with girlfriend in Apartment. Expect them to kick you out have you pay money to live there.

Stop working there now. It's illegal work. Change the locks on your girlfriend's apartment, too.

Is your girlfriend an e-2 visa holder?

If you have a new and valid E-2 visa for your new school, drop your pants and give your old boss a full-ass mooning. Tell him to, "suck it" and what not.

If your g/f is Korean then there's a possibility of two things happening. They can make life hell for her. Or you can make life hell for them . . . . through her. The latter choice, however, might put a bit of unfair pressure on her.

She is Canadian, as am I. She does have an E2. I worked at a previous school and at that time I had to pay a small amount of the rent so we could have a bigger place, when I was hired on by this school , they paid the full amount.
