|
|
Though I would share this, from marmot hole:
A drunk Korean driver killed a family of five just outside the capital of Phnom Penh, reports DPA:
Phnom Penh - A Korean driver killed five members of one Cambodian family while speeding under the influence of alcohol, police said Monday.
Police said grandparents Yiet Tann, 44, Chrun Kimsry, 43, and their daughter Yeit Srey Sros, 24, died instantly when the unnamed Korean collided with their motorbike late Saturday, and Sros daughters Hun Phalnyta, four, and baby Hun Phalnyta died in hospital.
The Korean guy was drunk and driving very fast on the wrong side of the road, a traffic police official from Chom Chao district on the outskirts of the capital said by telephone.
I guess the whole be apologetic, cooperate with authorities doesnt apply to everyone:
We did find out he is Korean but he refuses to provide a name or cooperate with our investigation and he speaks no English, the traffic police official said.
If convicted, he could spend life in prison, although the DPA report notes that cases such as this are often resolved with compensation.
WTF ? |

Seriously, nice troll. The only notable thing about this story is that it won't be mentioned in the mainstream K-press... |

No excuse for anyone driving drunk anywhere, but a family of 5 (grandparents, parents, and a kid) on a motorcycle?
Yikes!! |

Though the OP should've linked the story, sharing news stories isn't trolling. |

ALthough one can't help but wonder how this would play out if it were a Korean family of five killed here by a drunken GI or English teacher. |

I reckon 10mill will set it right. Also, he might get a traffic ticket for driving on the wrong side of the road and perhaps speeding. Most Asians would rather have money in their pockets then see to guilty party suffer. |

Well, that's one down. Now we just need samd and komerican to show up with the usual, "but, but... it happens in the west, too" line and we'll be all set! |

Have you had your eyes checked recently? Your perspective seems fuzzy.
In my own defence, I always refused to let students use traffic accidents for current event discussion in class. I consider them private tragedies. My definition of a current event is something that impacts large numbers of people and offers something to discuss.
This incident is even less of interest. A man no one here has ever heard of got drunk and accidentally killed 5 other people no here has ever heard of. The only reason it was posted is because the man is Korean. What is there to discuss? |

I though it was worth mentioning not only to the fact that the man is Korean, but also his attitude after the accident...
Totally unapologetic and refusing to give his name.
like someone said, I wish he spend the rest of this life behind bars regretting what he has done. Very improbable... |
