How much is the fine for losing your alien registration card when you go home?
Can you not just plead ignorant and say you handed it in?
Alternatively, if you have zero money, what can they do? |

Just saw a thread on this on another board...
# loss of alien registration card while abroad
But it's for Japan. From reading that though, better pretend you JUST lost it. They want them reported within 14 days there. They might have told you that when you signed for it?

Keep mum at the airport about losing your ARC unless directly asked.
Apologize at the ward office when you go in for a replacement.{or do report it} |

cost to replace card = 10k won and an application form.
fine for no ARC at airport = 100k won (unless you have a valid re-entry with time remaining).
IF you don't pay the fine they will hold you in a little room while you make arrangements to pay it. You may miss your flight. Not their problem - you have broken the law and must pay. No pay = detention.
Is the hassle worth it all to save 10k won?
If you just want a souvenir, pop down and get a new one so you have it to hand in.

| I had no ARC last time I was leaving Korea and it wasn't a problem. That said, you're prob. better following the official guidelines as from my experience immingration deals with every situation differently depending on their mood at the time^^ |
