I have always been horrified by them since I was younger. I don't know what started it, but it is something that really bothers me. I just saw a black one, quick and nimble, scurry across my wall and jump onto my desk. Now that I saw one, anytime I feel a wisp of air, I think it's on me, or if a piece of my hair falls on my shoulder, I think it's the hairy beast. Little ones bother me, but it's the medium black and white ones that are about the size of a dime that really freak me out. Never saw a huge one, like a tarantula, but I am sure I would flip my brains out if I came into contact with one.
How can I get over this fear? I am seriously nervous to go to bed because I am afraid it will crawl in my mouth whilst I sleep. |

Spiders are your friends. They eat far more annoying bugs. |

But they also eat my flesh at night when I wake up with little bites. |

I might be wrong but I don't think that's spiders. Spiders are mostly not parasitic. More likely bed bugs or plain old mosquitoes. |

Find something to occupy your thoughts until you forget about them. |

NO bed bugs. Definitely not mosquitoes. Oh, I hate them, hate them! |

I can't. That's the screwed-up problem. I am just wondering where it is in my room... |

Stuff cotton in your ears. The black ones with white lines on them will burrow into your ear canals when you sleep. When you wake, they will sink their teeth into your eardrum and grab hold -- hoping you won't force them out. The infection from the bite can cause permanent hearing loss.

You need to be locked in a room that is full of a large range of different spiders for at least 24 hours. When you emerge your phobia will be cured....or you'll be insane. Worth a shot though eh? |

i suffer from the same completely irrational fear. I cannot sleep if i know a spider is in my room but i cannot see it.
seeing as you are probably on your own, you will probably have to put on a radio and just relax yourself to sleep, or take a pill.
if you have a neighbour or a friend who lives close by, you could always give them a call and plead for some assistance. they may be annoyed, but if they care about you then they won't mind too much. when i visit home i still wake my dad up at 2am if there is a spider in my room |

In Japan I've seen them the size of my hand on several occasions. To the point where I just stood and stared with my jaw on the floor, I'm talking HUGE. |

I've seen a couple big ones in Korea as well. Not quite plate size but approaching saucer.
I'm sure all of this is helping. |

My boyfriend and I went to visit his sister a couple of years ago. She lives in Tennessee, and I'm talking about in the "hollow" ... There were brown recluses; I was so scared to sleep! |

Well, it's mostly my fault because I keep on coming back to the thread and checking it! |
