|
I did mine a couple of years ago:
A)Buy a stamp, get a photo, do an eye chart and colour blindness test. Present ARC and passport.
B)Stampitude again, then go to a 3-hour education/safety lecture in Korean, part of which was a 40 minute movie with English and Chinese subtitles.
C)More stamps, written 100 question exam available in English, Chinese and Japanese if you want.
D)Stamps again, watch a short video beside the driving course/mini golf thing. Drive around it, watch speed, hit hazards, park. Lie on form about doing 20 hours of practice driving with a teacher.
E)Stamp it up, then you get in a car with an insane cop and drive a left-right-left-right-left course for about 4 kms.
f) Get licence.
Except, now the process is:
A)Register for kyoyuk/education, pay W12,000, listen to insane lecture, watch insane movies. Get certificate of safety course completion.
B) Get photo, bring ARC and passport, stamps of course, begin provisional licence.
C)Take computerized multiple choice exam.
D)Do mini-golf test.
E)????????Proceed to road test with cop??????????
Do you know about the new system? If so, share the wealth friend. |

See, Mom was thinking when she sent Wario to AAA for an International one.
Reminds me, I can take him off my insurance now and save a few bucks. |

they do driving tests in korea?
gee, the way no one looks behind when backing up, never slows down on downhills, speeds and slams on the brakes, never uses signals, disobeys every sign on the road, and routinely smacks shins and elbows, I would never had guessed that there was a road test.

When I took the test last year, I was required to have 10 hours of practice (with any licenesed driver) between the closed course test and the open road test. Other than that, you pretty much described my experience. |

This is not the "trading" of a home license for a Korean license, is it? |

I'm not sure where you're from or where you live in Korea, but my experience down here in Busan was not even remotely like that. I must admit, though, that I am a Canadian and that we can just trade our license in to get a Korean license. Mine is good until 2016!!
It went something like this:
A)Fill out a form, go next door and fill out a medical declaration form, do an eye chart and colour blindness test, do two deep knee bends. Get the doctor who is sitting there to stamp my medical form
B) Back to first building and buy a stamp. Present ARC, stamp, medical form, my photos, and my Canadian license and passport.
C) Sit down for 20-25 minutes and read a book.
D) Receive brand new Korean license.
Apparently, the office will hold my Canadian license until I am ready to leave permanently. Then, I just go back, show them my plane ticket and give them my Korean license. They will then return my Canadian license. However, last time I was in Canada, I just told the Ministry that it was lost and paid the 10 or 15 bucks for a new one.
I was amazed that they had the license printed and ready for me in such a short time. It takes 6-8 weeks in Canada! Next week, I am going with my friend to help him get his license so if it has changed, I will repost after that. Oh, yes, a few of the forms in Busan were not in English. I needed a Korean speaker to help me.

OP must be applying for a new license, not trading his home license. |

Right, not trading/replacing a foreign one for a Korean one. Doing the whole process. Friend has never had a licence, figures may as well get it here. Thanks for the link, Cheeseface. |

Your welcome, I'm just starting to get round to getting my licence here!!
Could you let me know, or I will let you know, if you or I get a copy of the written test book? (I'm sure that didn't make sense but you will understand ....) |

1: fill out all forms, do computer test, must get over 60% or you fail need over 70% of you wish to drive bus also..
2: need to do course test!
options:
go to seoul and watch video in english and hope you understand all the beeps and sounds and figure out the tricks to pass the course..GOODLUCK
still need 10 hours of driving though
so option B is
pay 300 bucks, and study 25 hours at course driving ed!
you get the car time you need, and they teach you the course! you also take the test there so you are familar with the car and track and you have the practice so you should pass it, you need 80% to pass! or you have to retake it another time and do a few more hours..
after passing that. you watch some stupid videos!
then you do your driving test with instructor! basically you follow a course
on the road, remember its a test so both hands on the wheel! belts, check mirror before starting etc..
once you pass this you have your license that day!
if you fail you set another date to take it again.. |
