Can you take food from the airport eateries onto Korean Air? Things like hamburgers and what not. |

If you buy it on the airside of the security check, then yes.
You usually can't take it through security (they get stupid about it - like your hamburger patty might be C4 in disguise or something).

I bought a bottle of water in the Busan terminal after security and they told me at the gate that I couldn't take it aboard. Their is no consistency around the world other than 3-1-1. |

they hardly sell anything on those boats and the ride is 3 hours long!!
the water they do sell is too expensive - 1000 or more
if this is true, it's definitely new - |

Yeah but you should be sneaky. If it's things like hamburgers, just try it. It's a lot easier to get forgiveness than permission.
If it doesn't work, gingerly remind the security officials that hamburgers on a plane are way safer than SNAKES on a plane. |

Hah! Why drink water when they sell delicious duty-free Asahi at only 1500 won a can. Cheaper than a can of Hite! |

Foods are generally no problem.
Liquids/beverages are a different matter. |

I lol'd. I would love to see someone sneak one on an 18 hour plane ride and then just bust it out for a snack right at the start. There would be NO way to take care of it. That would be funny. |

IF you are flying FROM the US then all bets are off because they are absolutely ANAL about stuff like that. Gotta hate US airports and carriers. Truly the armpit of the traveling world (or certainly a strong contender against places from central Africa).
IF the food and drink are purchased on the air side of the security checkpoint AND you are NOT boarding in the US then foods or liquids are no problem in your carry on (purse or bag).
NOTE: You CANNOT carry liquids or jells (larger than 100ml / 4oz. ) through security (unless you are traveling with a baby).
