I (U.S. citizen) am looking to get a tourist visa for my Korean wife to come visit the States. We have an appointment for next Friday (July 18), but here's the catch - we are not sure when we will be visiting the States. We currently live and plan to continue living in Korea, but we are not sure exactly when my next vacation from school is (since they don't plan those things in advance enough) so we don't have plane tickets yet to show them at the U.S. embassy.
Has anyone out there ever gotten a U.S. tourist WITHOUT having had exact plans (and thus no plane tickets) as to when you would travel to the States? If you have not had that experience, can you tell me what affect you think this will have on our being able to get the visa? Should we reschedule our appointmentfor a later date when we think we will have a better idea of our exact plans? According to www.us-visaservices.com (where I made the visa interview appt), I can reschedule the interview up to two times.
Thanks in advance for any help.

the tourist visa is valid for a few years at the least from the time it is issued. my fiance got one in january and was valid for multiple entries and i don't think it expires until 2013.
also, the visa laws are set to change in a few months and koreans won't need to get a special travel visa to the US..unless of course this anti-US beef thing causes the US to continue it in spite!!
she should go ahead and get the visa even if you don't plan on traveling in the next month or so. |

Yes, I do want to get it for sure, my concern is that since we don't have definite travel plans, will that influence the embassy to possibly not give us the visa? |
