I have problems loading this website from time to time. One minute it loads fine, I read a thread, click the 'back' button and all of the sudden the page won't load. So I try to reload the page, but the whole site (each board) just won't load. Then a few minutes later, it loads with no problem.
Haven't heard anyone else complain about this, so I'm just wondering what's going on. |

My guess is they are cyber attacks by the Koreans, and when they don't like what is posted, they try to jam the site so the poster can't make a rebuttal.
I think it is called a denial of service attack.
And no, I am not kidding. It seems to have been happening more an more during the anti-beef madness. |

Yes, this site doesn't work right half of the time. It's like the search function not working when it could. Maybe this is to slow down such as overly active site.
We could leave it and start fresh with a site that works right, but I suppose that's not an option since so many English teachers have invested a lot of time and effort into writing all the numerous gigabytes of threads it contains and none of us want to lose that. The site contains vast amounts of knowledge that will be lost if we leave or should it be taken down or fail.
I say, it needs to be fixed. I suppose we all have confidence that Dave in California will keep it going.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but is anyone backing up all the threads so they can be restored should this site go down or be banned in Korea? I don't know where to start, but it would require a piece of software that parses all the sites threads onto a hard disk. |

I have a brand new Windows Visa due core Toshiba laptop with the fastest fiber optic internet connection.
I often get:
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database
Or...
Could not connect to Server, please try again later
Or...
It just sits and spins. |
