I'm getting ready to get my background check done tomorrow, and I can't get ahold of my recruiter to ask her this question.

Has anyone who's gone through the Background check process found that you need an FBI criminal background check? Or does a BCI background check suffice?

Thanks in advance!

by the way--tried to search on this and couldn't find anything relevant.

I do know the great amount of time an FBI check takes. and my state police was just as bad. that plus Michigan's slug-like speed for an apostillary, it was shaping up to be 4 months minimum to get the paperwork done.

Then I did some checking and found a company in NYC that does apostillazations for intl companies I think, and got the background check AND apostillary done in about ten days. Cost 325 bucks, but that vs. a four month stay in lower Michigan's summer was a wise investment

I think they will complete it and fedex it overseas too.... for a price. there's always a price, right?

Per immigration regulations, a federal, state, (provincial), or local check is acceptable.

You do NOT need the FBI check. Get whatever's fastest.

I assume you're refering to these guys: http://www.apostille.us
Has anyone on this board had a good (or bad) experience with them?

yeah, actually. they were pretty fast overall, about 10 days total, I think. cost enough.....

did call them once just to double check, but it got done fast. was about 325, but worth it in the long run, esp. with how flippin' slow my state is.
