|
|
I have an iBook G4 and my AC power adapter cable doesn't seem to ever fully charge. It goes in intermittently between charging and not charging.
The cord is quite new, it's not strained or anything. However, it's not the Apple one since i lost it- I cheaped out and bought a Macally. Could it be the problem?
It's driving me crazy and my computer might die soon without proper power. |

If its not the cord maybe its the battery?
i dunno....but that would be the second obvious guess.
best of luck
I have a macbook that will hang out around 97% for fun. |

The way you describe it, it sounds like the problem could be with the cord.
But batteries do not last forever.
so...

Yea it's definitely the cord.... when it's positioned a certain way it charges. So annoying! I'll have to get a new one... can I get one at any Apple retailers in Seoul? Suggestions? |

yeah i would suspect your illegitimate cord first. batteries have a total of hundreds of charges and eventually die. the apple website has an article about batteries on the support pages. i think it takes 2-3 years to die |

actually being the nerd that i am i started reading the support discussion forums on the Apple website, and many users had the same problem.
it might be the battery, OR something loose inside the computer. aaargh.
should i just take it to an Apple service center?
(i want to buy a new MacBook but i don't have 2,000$) |

1. Buy a PC that's just as powerful for half the price.
2. Install OSX
3. ????
4. Profit! |

Process of Elimination.
1. Cord. Buy a legitimate cord, Apple is very finicky about how they design their products - 3rd party products may not fit or be as "snug" as Apple ones. Keep the receipt though.
2. Battery. Your battery may simply have run it's course. You should consider a replacement battery...if nothing else it's good to have one.
3. Plug. Sometimes the internal wiring around the plug itself may get pulled and twisted. If that happens, the only way is to get it fixed at the Apple service center.
P.S. I just bought the latest Macbook Pro for $1600. Saving me $6K off the Apple retail site. woot! |

I presume you mean $600, but that's still awesome.
Where'd you get it? |
