For those of you who are sick and tired the useless search function on this website... I figured out how to get around it.

Go to www.google.com -> advanced search.

Enter your key words in the top 4 boxes (whichever box(es) is/are appropriate to your search).

In the bottom box that says 'Search within a site or domain:' type in: " .eslcafe.com "

It worked for me. No more headaches.

I hope someone is listening (from here). PM me and I'll show you how to make a search engine which only selects from Dave's and you can have your own little google box..... Very easy to set up specific and personalized search within google...what is beautiful about the company, THEY GET IT.

It isn't difficult and frustrating as hell here.....my only conclusion as I've stated before -- is that they DON:t WANT a search function. They want chat and ground hog day.....

Your suggestion is great but won't last but a day or two. ....

Who doesn't want it the groundhog day way?

Also, would you recommend teaching in a private school or a public school? Surprised

props for the search function tips....

As people have stated before the same works for entering site:forums.eslcafe.com/korea (then what ever they want to search for)

Tommy,

Google custom search makes it very easy to specify specific filtering to create your own search engine. However, as far as I know, you can't search by heading, especially here in phpbb. Maybe someone knows about other more specific search engines for these kinds of forums. I'm sure it is possible if it really wanted to be done.....

Here is an example of a google search engine made only to bring up ESL/ EFL related sites... http://www.communityesol.org.uk/eslsearch/index.htm

I don't need one on EFL Classroom because the Ning search engine is even better than google. Each entry gets automatic tags , plus you can add your own. Makes for quick, exact searching.

If anyone is interested in Google custom search (you can also bookmark and use on your own computer), here is an example I made which only searches for jobs from selected sites....
