Hi,
I'm interested in doing some sightseeing of Korea this weekend and was wondering what was the most simple and painless(hopefully by subway) way to get to Changdeokgung. I hear that this place is really placid and serene. Thanks. |

Is this the one where you have to take a guided tour? If so, yes, I believe Anguk station is your best bet, but there will still be a bit of a walk. |

From Anguk Stn. it's about a 10 min. walk east. Yes, you have to join a tour guide-your choice of English or Japanese. Incidentally, at Itaewan, Anguk, etc, there are info booths where you can get a free copy of a booklet that's called(I think)"The Best of Seoul". Get it! |

My dad went with my sister, of whom the latter is perfectly fluent in english.
They couldn't comprehend what the english guide was saying, so they hid from the group and jumped in with the Korean group. Dad ended up translating and it turned out to be far more enjoyable for everyone involved.. :D

I have taken the Korean tour, too. It was not my first time on the tour, so I didn't think it was a big deal. Of course all the Koreans were freaked out. A few insisted on staying with me and interpreting. |
