Hey, I just copped a cheapo flight ticket to Thailand from Incheon on Vladivostok Airlines! Very Happy

I've never flown with that airline. Has anybody on here flown with them? What's the skinny on their service? Are they a safe fly? Why is the ticket so cheap?

Thanks again for all the prior advice and recommendations.

This forum rocks... Cool

Vladivostok Avia was formed in the early 1990s --- to fly a lot of regional routes in eastern Russia that Aeroflot used to fly in Soviet days.

Nowadays they use western built planes on international routes (Airbus A320).

It is only on domestic Russian flights that they continue to use older Russian built jets.

But still perfectly safe to fly, infact nearly all Russian pilots are ex-Airforce.

while i am sure they are a fine airline, the experience i had with them was most certainly not.

flew from moscow to vladivostok, vladivostok to seoul.

seoul landing took two attempts: that is to say, they liked landing so much that they went in the first time, came damn close to touching down, but decided at the last moment to pull up for another go.

terrible turbulence too. all this could very well be weather related/ explained...but the whole outfit seemed quite sketchy.

so if anyone's done this trip, is Vladivostock an interesting place to check out for a day on the way? I was just looking at the map and I couldn't believe how close Russia is to Korea, considering it is so totally different racially.

Yes, Incheon to Vladivostok is a distance of only 507 miles.

But for such a short distance, it is quite expensive.

Vladivostok is a good introduction to Russia, but it is not cheap and 3 days is probably enough for most people.
