I don't understand why people who are chosen as MODs require new account handles. They come in with modding privileges and nobody even knows who they are, nor why they should even bother listening to em.

I'm not saying the MODs are bad, but it would give them a bit more credibility if we already knew them their posting history.

Ah, and what's up with MODs who've never done anything. What the hell is a Count ESL?

I don't know about MOD socks, but I prefer plain socks (cotton is best) ... especially when I wear shoes.

I can usually get by without socks when I wear sandals.

How often do you change your socks? Mine need a good wash.

Where can I buy some good socks? I need some new socks, because someone keeps stealing my socks. I feel like that episode of "Married with Children" when some aliens were stealing Al Bundy's socks for fuel for their ship. I wonder about that Count ESL fellow myself. I haven't seen him on the boards making any comments or anything. Did the Mods add a Korean for affirmative action purposes?

They're also afraid of being held accountable in real life for making bad decisions. This board does get a lot of freaks and in the past some of them have targeted moderators.

I don't agree that people would treat a mod differently just because they're now a mod. On the several other boards I go to the mods are just regular people, previously normal posters, who are treated not the least bit differently. Nothing changes on the boards.

Is this board that much more childish and insecure? Oh wait, I already know the answer to that. This is Dave's ESL Cafe Korean Job Discussion Forums, the place where maturity goes to die.

A chain of command you can respect is different from a chain of command you cannot see. Knowing the people who moderate this forum creates a closer relationship between the people. A true enforcer of the law must get to know the people to protect the people. That applies to real life, and I can't see why it can't apply to the cyber life too. If issues arise between posters and mods, then that means the mods are not doing a good enough job and thus shouldn't have been chosen in the first place.

Unfortunately I can not wear socks, special doctors orders. I'm having a hard time trying to kill off a bad case of athletes foot that came from wearing crappy socks. In the summer heat, they confine too much humidity and sweat. The majority of socks I come across in Seoul especially are cheap, and made from nylon, so they are pretty much plastic bags which do not allow my feet to breathe. No fun when you can't find good socks..

I have been trying to find a decent pair of socks, ones made from cotton. Socks at Costco are really cheap. Until I find a decent pair of socks, I have to trek all over Seoul in flip flops as I can not find any sandals that fit me. That's really fun when you aren't wearing socks and someone steps on your feet. Really not fun, my sock-less feet getting trampled on by someone wearing shoes and socks, and they get dirt and grime from the summer street all over your feet without socks.

Maybe all the good socks are being horded by a Seoul Troll under some bridge on the Han.

Yeah and I'm sure this time next week we'll hear another riveting story of you being accosted by said troll, and by you almost kicking his ass (3 seconds form it anyways).

Laughing

But yeah, back on topic...racetraitor brings up a good point so I can see the necessity for having a secret alter-ego and such =)

Just to let you know, anyone who posts in this thread disparaging the mods will be in danger of losing their posting privileges. If you want to risk having your tenure here terminated, keep it up guys (and gals). We are under no obligation to allow you to continue posting.

I prefer the White Sox over the Red Sox. Haven't we heard all there is to hear about Manny Ramirez and his obvious affliction with autism?

Autism is just Manny being Manny. It could be the reason he has put up pretty consistent and very impressive numbers throughout his career.

You ever see the video of that autistic kid that was finally given a chance to play during the last game of a high school basketball season? He came in off the bench and starting raining three-pointers like a machine. It made CNN news. Amazing.

Unfortunately you probably weren't around back in 2002-2003 when some of the more immature posters targetted some of the mods back then.

It went as far as stalking where they worked, posting RL info, calling their bosses and making up stories, etc.

You have NO IDEA how immature and baby like some people get...it blows my mind such people call themselves teachers.

A couple years ago a bunch of these said people attacked this site with a Denial of Service attack...it shut the site down for a couple days.

These are illegal acts which just go to show how far people will go.

A more recent example of the immature would be the recent spat of porn going around this site.

Do not underestimate the ability and willingness of these losers to ruin this site and the lives of those who do staff this site.

No, I'm really not. I'm saying that people are more likely to follow their rules and not smart off to em if they know them from long-term positive posting history. Cause to be fair it seems like Enrico or whatever catches a hell of a lot more crap than he should be catching.
