My hagwon and recruiter have not been the most helpful in terms of helping me through the registration process now that I'm in Korea. I have my medical test results back and they appear to be OK (no one bothered to tranlate it for me, but I suppose that's what the internet's for). So now I have to go to Immigration and get my ARC.
My recruiter eventually e-mailed me a checklist of things to take to Immigration:
Quote: |
1)Application forms
2)Passport
3)Copy of your passport
4)1 colour photos (3㎝4㎝)
5)Copy of Hakgown business license
6)Copy of certificate of Hakgon establishing registration
7)Fees (10,000 won)
Original Medical Check |
I now have some copies of Korean documents that I assume constitute 5) and 6). My question is, what are the application forms - and where do I get them? And do I need an appointment? (OK, that was three questions.) I've previously been told that the Immigration Office for Seoul is near Anguk station. |

1- they are at the immigration office
2- no, but get there early to avoid the lines of russian hookers getting their "entertainment" visas
3- it's right outside the subway entrance, beside the police station, in the apartment building |

Application form is available at the immi office, but if you want to save time and fill it out in advance (advisable), you can find it at: http://www.immigration.go.kr/HP/IMM/imm_forms/image/resi_1.pdf
You don't need an appointment, but you can avoid a wait by making one. Go to http://www.hikorea.go.kr and follow the E-Application link for more info. You'll be looking for "Foreigner's Registration Application."
The Immigration Office near Anguk station is for Seoul north of the Han River. If you're south of the river, you'll need to go to the Mokdong office (near Omokgyo station). |
