One thing that I liked about Japan was that you'd occasionally see young ladies dressed in kimonos out in public streets. I thought it was pretty cool.
I never really saw this in Korea. Anyone see it?
Personally I prefer the look of the kimono over the hanbok, but that's just me. |

| Usually you'll see them if they're on their way to an event or wedding. As for just casually wearing them, they're just too unpractical to wear casually. Although, I've seen some redesigned "modern" hanboks that are meant to wear casually, but on TV. |

| Never seen it, except on children. One elementary student I had last year, wore the same hanbok outfit everyday for many months, but it was kept clean. I noticed in Korea I know many people by their clothes instead of face. You do see many hanbok stores with mannequins wearing the traditional royal attire, but rarely anyone wearing it as Korea is throwing away traditions to modernize. I understand it's worn on some special occasions such as Chuseok. |

It seems to be a declining practise.
Even 5 years ago you would have seen a dozen women in hanboks on any given saturday in seoul. Not these days. |
