Hi,
When I play an fps my system sometimes freezes. The whole thing locks up and the screen freezes on the last frame and just holds it. Sound replays the last half second of sound or whatever a few times then cuts off. Nothing responds so I have to reset manually.
Usually happens at an intense moment of battle. Also happens with Lineage 2 but not as often. An even rarer with just opening and closing stuff rapidly.
AMD x2 2ghz, 3gb ram
Any ideas appreciated. |

What graphics card and what power supply do you have?
Sounds like it could be a power supply issue...... |

4 things come to mind.
1) video card software/firmware/driver issues -
2) RAM issues - software reserves RAM and doesn't release it ending with a lock.
3) HEAT issues - heat is your enemy
4) power supply not up to the task.
1 & 3 are the most likely culprits followed closely by #4. |

only on FPS's, another thing to check if the other suggestions that tom made dont work...
turn down your settings in game, you might simply be over working the card and it cant deal with it.
id also be favoring the heat and driver issues and the main cause. |

Appears to have just been a driver issue. Got the new ones that came out for this nvidia card a few days ago and it's running fine. Next to figure out why IE sometimes doesn't connect to any site but Firefox keeps on workin fine. |
