Exactly; Warhol she is not--she promotes endlessly, and yet, where's the coterie of productive artists coming from her? Why does she have no "velvet underground", or "Twiggy"? Where are the people coming to her for inspiration?
Could someone please link her website? It's some of the most vapid, uninspired art work I've ever seen coming from someone with a "name". Most of the student-art in Hongdae is comparable.
If you want to see some real art in Seoul that's unpretentious, try finding Yogi-ga gallery in Hapjeong. The curator is in a band, has a large group of artists that he works with, and has a show every last sunday. THAT's a Warhol (but without the assholery). |
