Whenever you see corporal punishment being implimented intervene.
Say that in advanced countries we don't do this and the only reason Koreans do it is because they are uncivilized. Even better someone even suggested taking a picture of it and posting it on the web. That will get you on the Public school wongta list. Not to mention it's commiting Career suicide. It also happens to be totally braindead.
Not accepting someones soju glass at a dinner party. I guess if your taking antiabuse(Clockwork Orange style drug) then you have a good excuse other wise just take the glass. Politely say "Kum sa me da" and pour it in a glass stratigically placed under the table.
Taking anything posted by fromtheuk seriously. Being an anti-social wanker.
Refusing to participate in Official outings. Refusing to eat the food on official outings. I've even known people who insisted their school order fried chicken when they were at a sashimi restaurant.
Every time you have to discuss your vacation schedule start waving the contract in your co-teachers face.
Making lots of personal calls from your school phone. talk really loudly
Surfing internet sites that have members who have pornographic avators.
Refusing to talk to your students outside of school. Some people say hello and quickly walk away. |

At my school, doing these things is minor. One would have to act like an idiot and keep doing them over and over to finally reach the plateau, the promised land, if you will, of 'being hated'.
If you want your school to really hate your guts, give homework regularly and base final grades on its completion. |

Resorting to childish abuse makes your case very convincing
I think many things you've stated are stupid things to do, but I don't do any of that nonsense anyway.
To insult others you strongly disagree with suggests you are one of the doormats that live on this forum.
I suggest you clean the toilets at school, after all it would be anti-social to not do so now wouldn't it?!!!
My rebuttal is:
Politely decline to attend official outings because it's optional, to be made to feel like a w(*)er for not taking part is proof of how awful some of the posters on this forum are.
Free speech is a 2 way street. I advise all posters to only take me seriously, because I am very credible and a real authority on everything, just like fishead soup. If you don't obey me, you're a wan*&(.
Thank you. |

The native teacher at my school before me did a pretty good job of being hated.
*Send rude/sexual text messages to female members of staff.
*Phone up sick every Monday after having a soju soaked Sunday evening. Think he managed to use up all 15 sick days just on Monday.
*Spend lessons teaching the students swear words.
*Being told that you're not allowed anywhere near the students, by my now co-teacher.
*Then have the balls to point at the contract and milk it for all it was worth. Extra stuff or I'm not teaching.
*Being anti-social
*Leaving school early and going down the Noraebang and be seen staggering through the city in the early evening hardly able to stand up.
Then you go some way to being hated by the school. Christ knows why Korea sometimes doesn't sack someone. |

Please don't pretend to be insulted by my post. Don't underestimate my intelligence by assuming that you're a troll who delights in creating unfriendly online discussion. I just made your day by confirming your trollishness.
How about you pretend to be angry about my correct assertion. Then I'll pretent to upset about your rebuttel and we can all pat ourselves on the back for effective trolling. |

You're like the miserable teacher's pet at school, if everybody doesn't accept your view you try your best to isolate them, only because you feel threatened and challenged by an opposing view.
To assert somebody is a wan&*r because they won't socialize at work is very shallow indeed.
I suggest you analyze yourself, I am not making unfriendly online discussion. I am making valid criticism of working in Korea.
If you feel by raising such issues I am letting the side down, that's your problem.
As regards this in your last post: 'pretent to upset about your rebuttel', please improve your written English, if you'd like to be considered a good teacher. |

When you can't even use articles properly, may I suggest that you are not the one to be giving others tips on their English? |

My defence is that was posted just as the next lesson was about to begin. At least there were no spelling mistakes though. |

I'd love to slap my vice principal in the face.... then I'd take the pen that he clicks non-stop and stab him with it. |

Maybe you should have stayed at your computer and corrected it. The students wouldn't have really missed out on anything not having their human tape recorder in the room. This would free up your time so you could do what you do best trolling.
Why not lighten up on your co-workers. Just pretend you're Mr. Bean.
That's all you have to do to succeed in Korea. |

You'll notice that I was not the one that suggested others improve their English, only that FTU was not the best example to be doing so. And I never claimed that I was the best example either for that matter... |

Seriously, I agree with #1. Corporal punishment shows an inability to control oneself and to discipline children. There are always better ways.
