Hi,

Summer vacation is right around the corner and that means hundreds of Dave's readers are probably getting ready to head to Phuket, Bangkok, Chaing Mai, and Koh Samui. After living in Phuket for 6 months, my curry supply has run dry. I was wondering if anybody that is going to Thailand for vacation could bring me back some red, green, panang, yellow, and/or masaman curry powder. Even if it just the "Blue Elephant" brand that they sell in the Airport (last time I was there it was about 80 Baht per pack). My only other request is some Instant Thai Iced Tea powder. It is bright orange in color (and probably terrible for you - but delicious)
I can send you money via Paypal or Korean Bank Transfer and throw in a little extra for your effort and kindness. Please reply on this thread or send an e-mail to [email protected]. I can try and answer some questions you might have about Thailand as well. My girlfriend and I lived there for about 1/2 a year before we started our stint teaching in Korea.
Thanks in advance,
Bo

I usually buy most of my stuff in Thai but that's not to say it isn't available here. U can get that stuff in the Won or online. I bit pricey, though but not too bad.

Emart sells curry if you're needing some while in Korea.

I have a spare tub of green curry paste, if you're interested. I can trade you for some foreign beer or something.

Yeah - I know they have it in E-Mart, but it is that 'Vermont Curry' brand. Vermont has cheddar cheese and maple syrup NOT curry. It just isn't that good. It is like the stuff they sell on the street for 2000 won for a big bag of it. You have to add tons of extras in order to give it any flavor. Joe - what is this tub of green curry you are talking about? Where is it from?

There's a shop "World Mart" near me (in Dangjin, Chungnam) that sells the Thai curries I think you are talking about. The little packages of wet paste, super-concentrated, right?

If you want I can grab some for you and ship them if you pony up the cost. They run about 2,000 won a pop I think. They have the usual red/green/yellow/masaman plus a few others.

Let me know if you still haven't sourced some. I have a vacation coming up so will have plenty of time to get there + to the Post office.
