Both those places are a bit too far from where I work, Gangnam.
It'd be nice to have neighbours that speak English and if there are a bunch around in the neighborhood I figure it'd be easier to meet some more people...
Basically I'm wondering what areas in Seoul rival Haebangcheon in terms of English speakers per square mile... ha. |

One of the areas with high numbers of foreigners is Gangnam where you are ... But the big question is how to find them / connect with them ... I am living in one of the areas which doesn't have a very large number of them ... so I can't help you with that one ... |

I live just outside the Nambu Terminal, but I don't think many (if any) westerners live by me, or at least in my apartment that has over 600 addresses in it.
With so many Hakwans outside the Kangnam station, there has to be plenty of English teachers living around there.
That being said, I think there is at least one westerner who lives everywhere in this country. |

Rarely see foreigners down here in Sillim. I think about five in six months, and never seen the same person again - probably passer bys. |

The Sinchon and Hongdae areas also have large foreigner populations, mainly because of the universities offering language and international programs and because it's easy to find cheap accommodation. |

The French area of Seorae Ma-eul near Bangbae has (of course) a French community, and Dongbu Ichon-dong around Ichon station also has a fair size foreign population. And then there's also Hannam-dong, next to the Hannam bridge. |

As was said ,there are quite a few in the Shinchon area. My gf and I were waiting to watch a movie outside Megabox the other day and I commented on how many more foreigners there seem to be these days in this area. We decided to count how many we saw. In 40 minutes we saw 22. |

Even if you live in HBC, there's no guaruntee you'll connect with people. They can be a pretty mouldy lot. I've got chatting to a couple of people in the 3 months I've lived there, but most just keep to themselves.
Then again maybe I just smell. |

Kangnam has a lot of foreigners. Everytime I am there, be it at Kangnam Station, Apkujong, Daechi, COEX, etc. I always see tons of other foreigners.
If you are wondering where they all hang out...I have no clue on that one. I personally don't like to go where all the other foreigners are. |

I live and work in Bongcheon, one stop away from Sillim. There are 10 N. Americans from my private school who live within walking distance from me. There's not much to do in Bongcheon though. If we want to see a movie, we head to Sillim or Seoul National University. |

I used to work in Hagwon-ga, Pyeonchong, and I rarely saw foreigners there. But apparently they were everywhere, just during my working hours.
Now I live in Yeongtong. There are tons of foreigners but they're spread thin and not concentrated. I see some downtown, that's about it. |

I read in a mag that near yeoksam station (a station away from Gangnam) had a large 외국인 population, but I don't go there very much so I wouldn't know. Gangnam, COEX are places I always see lots of foreigners at.. they're also the only places I ever go to, each being 10-15 minutes from where I live, so I've a very small range of knowledge.. |

I live in Hongdae and work in Gangnam, because there's no way I am going to pay for an apartment in Gangnam.
Back in the day when i was teaching at a hagwon in Gangnam me and all the other teachers there lived in a villa in Sadang. |

Itaewon is not far from Kangnam. Just abridge between the two. 15 minutes by scooter. 20 by bus. |
