While we're on this topic, anyone know where they sell the Canadian energy drink Rockstar? I know it's on base but I only know one person there, who's rather busy these days getting ready for deportation.

would love to try that stuff, I've heard lots of good things about it Cool

You can't buy anything on base without a military ID...I'm on Osan at least once a week and I have to be escorted on by a military ID holder and I have to surrender my ARC Card at the gate...They check ID's at the BX entrance and I am not allowed in even if escorted...You can score some Taco Bell in the food court though.

As stated before...Costco is the ticket for Cheese...Condoms ??? I don't know.

Just take the subway to songson(?) 2 stops past Osan, take a cab to main gate and talk to folks going in and out usually someone will help you, especially if you're a vet. Good luck.

You can buy large / imported condoms at the condom chop in hongdae.

Can you be more specific on where to find it?

Really? My mom got onto both Osan and Yongsan, and my father is simply retired Army. They let her buy stuff at the Shoppette on Yongsan and she smuggled out a quesadilla from Taco Bell Smile heh

Retirees are a whole different segment of the x-military population. They have privileges all over the world. Free standby flights too. That's mainly why they're on base, to catch a MAC somewhere, maybe home.

Peanut butter was always a hot item with the locals. Cheese and dairy products might be previously frozen, and don't always thaw out so well.

anyone know where to get some bootleg american cigs? I know a place in itaewon, but all they've got is Newport, and I'm a Winston/Camel man. PM if you don't want to blow up anyone's spot.

Trust me, they were escorted. Try to walk through, stop bullets.

Retired vets reach retirement after 20 years. With that behind you, you can gain access to any US base in the world.

Bingo! 20 year retirees can do this. But not the folks who just did their hitch and did not re-up.

Thanks to everyone who put in their two cents. As for cheese available at Korean stores, I'm allergic to all the expensive they put in it. The condom shop in Hongdae sounds like a winner, though. Why won't you tell us where it is or reply to the condom thread languishing in the FAQ forum?

But there are other things I like as well, so I'd still like to get on base if possible. If there are no active duty personnel here, I guess I'll just have to look somewhere else. Is it true that I can't buy anything on the base? That would suck a big fat pickle. My American coworker bought a bunch of stuff at Osan, but then she stole a military ID, so maybe that's why...

You can only get on as a vet if you have certain privileges. My mom is a disabled vet and they wouldn't let her stay at the hotel on base.

Wow, I didn't know either of these. Shocked

Me, neither... Very Happy

Yeah, no dice, y'all. I'm a disabled vet, and I can't get on post stateside without an escort. Retirees who still hold ID cards can get on.
