| When in Rome.... Hey a boy's got to drop anchor somewhere. Done the western thing. I like the "compactness" of these Korean fillies. Less wiggle room. Ya hear? |

When I do see them in public, I ignore them just like I ignore anyone else I don't know. Just because you're a Westerner and I'm a Westerner doesn't mean that we should automatically interact.
Also, the majority of W's I've met here are not appealing to me. They just want to get trashed on the weekends which is not a habit for me. |

I've met hundreds of people, and it's still not "most" of the expats in Korea.
In general though, I like people here better than people back home. They're more interesting. |

| I am a fairly social guy, but I have to say my circle of friends is small. My wife and I often travel to events were few if any expats actually attend. When we do see someone, they generally are not interested in talking, so we just enjoy the festivities. It would be nice to have a larger circle of actual "friends," but I have a life and if they don't have time to socialize I understand. Not singing the blues, just the way it is. We all have our own lives so if I happen to meet someone great, if they got things to do then no sweat. |

| I've only met 2 expats in my time here & one I like, one I don't. Pretty average percentage for me so far, around the same as back home. |

I agree; why should I say hello to you because you are a foreigner? If someone says hello to me, I'll chat it up. |

Too much like the freaky waygook thread or the masses are asses idea. Everybody but self is included in who sucks. Tired of this crap really. We all suck. So shut up with this garbage.
Nah, I only suck on occasion. Unlike some of you awesome people who are just like always fantastic people, great teachers, blah blah, who apparently are among the 99% of great cool people on Daves. |

Yeah. There is this guy who I always see near my school. When I first started my job, I was walking up the street to the school and I saw him coming. "Hey, how's it going," I said. Dude just looked at me blankly like he was having trouble solving 1 + 1.
Still see him from time to time. Now he just walks right through me (kind of like an adjumma who is on the wrong side of the walking path yet expects you to yield to her.) I agree with you. I hate people like that. |

If I see you once in the streets I'll probably ignore you. If I see you twice I'll probably trip you and laugh my ass off. |

| Yes. Dave's is not representative of the expats. Grab a listen to zenkimchi's Seoul Podcast. Even some bloggers that sound like they eat children on their blog are really nice, cool guys. |

| For the most part, I don't awnt anything to do with foreigners...or Koreans. I way too wrapped up in enjoying and doing for my family. The few friends I have are close. it's the same way outside of Korea too. Very few friends, but they are very close. |

I don't make a habit of saying hello to strangers until I'm introduced by a mutual friend, or if the situation offers the opportunity for us to interact. I'm not hostile, just uncofortable with simply walking up to a random white guy in the street and striking up a conversation. On the other hand, I've been on visa runs to Fukuoka where I've made friends with people who asked me how to get to the embassy or whatever. On two of my three visa runs there I ended up hanging out with someone for the two days.
In Seoul, I don't have a lot of friends because I don't really go out much. I like being at home. The friends I do have are awesome. What is sad is when you make a great friend and then they go back home. That's happened to me a couple of times, and it sucks. That's the reality of this life, I guess.
I haven't met any total assholes here. A couple of weirdos, but not bad people. |

POET13 has it. Stay at home with the gal, play till my fingers bleed, have creative shaving day, lick the yogurt, foot massage, etc. Depends on the day. Why go out when it's right there in the crib. GOOD musicians will draw me out, however. But those are rare here as well. Met about 50 or so. Most have way more ego than talent. I need it the other way around. |
