There isn't one that won't cost you more than you are paying for your prescriptions.

Do you have NHIC with the booklet? I have never paid more than 10k won for a prescription (including asthma meds).

jiyull, there are several health insurance companies that pay for major medical and things other than routine visits to the clinic. I have AIG, ING, Dongbu, and would like to get one to replace my AIG, so we are shopping around. Basically, the cost of health insurance is good because each provider pays out if you have to be in the hospital. There is the magical three day stay though before any insurance company will pay out, so you have to be in the hospital for the minimum time before receiving benefits.

My total health insurance cost for the three which each have some kind of pay back clause for a portion of my premiums after 15 years if I remain healthy is right around $150 US each month. For my money it is worth it far more than the risks. I have had several friends who were literally run down by Koreans and they had no insurance other than the National health through their school. All of my friends ended up forking over several thousand dollars which effectively broke them and forced them to leave the country with no money.

If you want information PM me and I'll have my wife give me the links for you. She does all of our purchases for insurance because she is Korean and gets the best deals for us. That's all I can offer to the discussion.
