Blah, blah, blah, bitches, blah, blah, bling, blah, blah, blah, hummer, blah, blah, ghetto, blah, blah, blah, gun, blah... What's to like?

...and don't tell me rap is more than this. Mainstream rap (ie: the rap 85% of the people who say they love rap are referring to) is mostly this.

The big difference between the two is that the rock music has original music behind the "blah blah kill myself" lyrics. While the rap music "samples" from past rock songs and adds the "blah blah bitches" lyrics.

Haha.

I think a lot of mainstream rock music sucks as badly as rap does, don't get me wrong. Not to sound like an elitist.

Music these days has no soul.

check the posts about white boy hip hop videos...
personally I hate mainstream rap... but lyrically I challenge any other artists to compete with some of the better mcs out there

I listen to most genres of music, but prefer hip hop, as its a culture more than any other genre..
but be honest artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and the Chilli Peppers sometimes really struggled to make any sense with their lyrics

well, no offense to radiohead, fine musicians and all but I am gonna vote in the boring category. Notice all those people in the crowd with their hands in their pockets, never a good sign if you ask me. I wanna have my hair blown back with awesome rather than just have it tussled

you mean you want a spectacle? how about some glam rock? Laughing

Though not live but in reference to the discussion of rap, how about some death rap, nihilistic hip hop.

This thread reminds me of the pissing match between various listless subcultures in highschool.
