btw. I am outside of Seoul.. actually going Incheon way!
not all that far away.. just across the bay.
but am being told that it takes the bus either 1.5 hours or 2 hours to get to ICN (at set schedules) and Im not happy with those options.
2 hours to get to airport then another 3 hours of waiting at airport?
screw that.
I read that they have completed a subway line to ICN, and that's an option though it'd take many transfwers/switching lines and the "estimated time" on subway map is even longer than the bus!
it's amazing to me that it would take me 2 hours to get somewhere when I can literally swim to the place across the bay!! (and in probably less than 2 hours swimming!)
the problem with the buses from my place is that they stop everywhere en route , hence the preposterous time.
anyone know how much a taxi would cost?
I know it'd be ridiculously expensive, but then it's a matter of "how ridiciulously" more.
I'm sure the travel time would be less than an a hour in a taxi. |

As far as i know, a direct line from Seoul to Incheon airport will not be completed until 2010.
You can take the train out to Gimpo, and then a bus from there.
Or you can take a bus to one of the stations near the airport that they've got up and running (but like I said, the full line is not open yet, so I'm ot sure which stations are ready right now). |

Whats your address and I will give you a rough price of a taxi by looking on the Daum site. I have just looked for travel time for us from Yongin.
Btw, taxi is 72,500 from Yongin! |

| You can take the subway the whole way now, there is a transfer to a second subway at Gimpo. I haven't ridden it yet but my GF used it to go meet a friend of hers who flew in from Japan for a weekend. about a million times less stressful than keeping tabs on the Airport limo, plus you can T-Money it all the way. She told me it's really nice and new, empty too. |

Yeah. I rode it in mid November and it was phucking nice! I tried to take an airport limo bus like I usually do, but the bus driver wouldn't let me on, so I rode the subway from Mokdong to Gimpo and was happy to see the line to Incheon was good-to-go. It was phucking cold that morning (5:30 in the morning or so) and the soft heated seats felt good to my freezing ass and sperm banks. It only stops about three times between Gimpo and Incheon, so it gets you there faster than a limo bus, and it's a Hell of a lot cheaper. I think it was around 3,500 won in November. |

To add to the above post, there is also an express line that runs from Gimpo to Incheon Airport with no stops in between. It is a lot more comfortable than the commuter train, but it runs slightly less often... I've ridden on both the commuter and express... I recommend the express. |

I'd like to add a question: Motel or 여관 price. I guess in Incheon near teh airport everything is more expensive, but how about in Gimpo or some other place? I have an international flight leaving at about 9.30am, and I live an hour south of Seoul. I'd rather not start my journey at....THREE in the morning, youknow? I'd like to find the best place to sleep over near ICN.
Any suggs?

I believe the express was 28 minutes.
Right now, there are only 3 or 4 stations between Incheon Airport and Gimpo, so the commuter train only takes about 31 or 32 minutes. The time difference is negligible.
Until the end of 2008, the express train is the same price as the commuter: 3,300 won from Incheon Airport to Gimpo.
So, at the moment, the primary differences between the commuter and express trains are the frequency and the seating arrangements. The express only runs once or twice an hour, while the commuter departs every 5~10 minutes. The express seating is much like that in the KTX economy class cabin, while the commuter train is configured like a standard subway car. |
