I was hired w/ a letter but that letter I gave to get my visa. How can I show this, Is it in Immys computer base?

I can't speak from experience, but I would guess it would be indicated on the visa where the confirmation number would normally be printed (starts with "HSB" on the pic linked below):

It should be stamped on your passport on your Visa. My co-teacher couldn't find it but my husband pointed it out to me. I will type it out in Korean tomorrow. I don't know if I have the GEPIK invitation letter either or if I gave it to immigration.

ttompatz, oops, you're right. The Korean text says that teachers hired directly by the principal don't count. Embarassed

Yes, those hired directly by the schools are SOL.

My cost if the GEPIK stamp is enough is 45,000 won (visa and drug test).

My cost if the GEPIK stamp isn't good enough is estimated at 240,000 won and many long trips to the embassy, police station, and hospital.

My school is cheap and doesn't want to help pay for anything (if I have to get a medical and CRC). It doesn't pay for me to play hard-ball and go to another school as I won't get the 100,000 yearly raise. I would also probably lose the airfare at the end of the contract if I went directly to another school and the cost and hassle of the visa and the fact that I will have to do this every year is making me rethink my plan of staying in Korea long-term.

(Sorry - immigration and contract negotiations are putting me in a bad mood)
