Was having a year end dinner party with the professors at my Uni, and a Canadian one said that a fried of his got a job at a Uni and had to get an E2 visa to teach.

And that E1 visas are being abolished and all Uni teachers will have to get an E2.

Another prof said his friend might simply be being forced by *his* Uni to get an E2 because they're cheaper to get than an E1.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? This would be awful for Uni teachers.

Immigration isn't giving as many E-1s. Even if you have a Ph.D., if you teach English, you will have to get an E-2 (this info has been repeated by uni teachers, I don't have official sources except from people who thought E-1 was possible).

There was a thread current about 1-2 weeks ago that covered this issue.
