It's called being a non-conformist. It's just a phase he'll grow out of it.

Supposedly western society is all about non-conformism/ individuality.
But when someone doesn't like the beatles everyone gasps?
Its hardly a phase- i never liked the beatles. Unless you classify not liking something for 35 years as a "phase". |

You can be a "non-conformist" your whole life, the image isn't something necessarily tied to it unless you're young or mentally so. Sadly, the opinion back home is that non-conformists wear uniforms and can't be otherwise. Suppose this goes for the West in general.
Non-conformists who have their shit together know that you can do more damage from the inside than from the outside. |

Never liked them. Not when I was 14. Not when I was 24. Not now at 34.
Dull. Boring. |

Nice! It reminds me of the "hipsters" I dealt with living in Boston/Cambridge for so many years...they all wanted to be so "different" and ended up looking the same. |

The first and last time I saw true non-comformists was in England in 1978 |

| It was funny to see dudes with anarchy signs on their jackets bitching because the bus was late, or that they couldn't get a job. |

| I am not saying the Beatles weren't any good. But the Beatles were my parent's music in their teens to be replaced by Peter Paul and Mary, James Taylor, and Barbara Striesand later on. I never liked any of my parents' music and honestly I don't expect my kids to like any of mine. |

Oh man,I really hate The Beatles.Always have and always will.
They were one of the first packaged and processed groups.
Most of their music is actually pretty weak and hasn't stood the test of time very well at all.
There were far better groups around in the mid-late 60s who didn't receive the hype or publicity which the Beatles received.
The Animals,The Zombies,The Turtles, and Herman's Hermits in my humble opinion, were putting out better records and songs during that period.
Everytime I hear a Beatle's tune,I want to vomit. |

I can't stand The Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Pink Floyd.
The Beatles? No thanks. I don't like pop music. I prefer technical music, thank you. People have told me, "You don't understand. Their music was completely over-the-top and cutting edge for the time." Hey, I'll appreciate the production of their albums; that's about it. But the guys were far from virtuosos. Listen to what Django Reinhart was playing on the guitar 20 years earlier, and he used two fingers.
Led Zepplin. They have some good guitar riffs, but they were played to death on the radio when I was a kid. On long car rides, it was always Journey, Foreigner, Led Zepp, etc.
Pink Floyd. I used to share a car with my brother. There's nothing more depressing than driving to school on a gray Monday morning in the fall, listening to Pink Floyd. |
