Not only that, but "좋은놈, 나쁜놈, 이상한놈," a Korean Western set in 1930s Manchuria (quirky enough for you?) will be shown with English subtitles at the CGV theater in Yongsan.

Damn... I really really want to see this... and like yesterday =/ Wonder how long it'll take to get a copy of this w/ subs.

It's kewl that the Yongsan CGV runs some of the high profile K-flicks with eng subs at times. Saw the Jun Ji-hyun "Superman" film a while back there. Started out pretty decent and then just kind fizzled and died by the end. Maybe I expected too much?

They really need to get information out to their staff.

Everytime we've called for information about various movies with English subtitles, including this one, we've been told that it doesn't exist.

Ah yes, the typical answer of the lazy worker. Is it really that hard to ask a manager or someone else that might know? I lost track of how many times I was told straight to my face that something did not exist or was impossible to do when in fact it was entirely possible or did exist. Started to wonder if this had something to do with the saving face thing. Perhaps not knowing an answer and having to ask a higher up would make the person in question look as if they were not on top of their stuff.

Certainly not something that is isolated to Korea though. You'll find lazy people aplenty here in the states as well as anywhere else. They just go about giving bad service in different ways sometimes Wink

I've been wanting to see this one for a while.

Do you know if they are playing "The Crossing" with English subtitles as well?

Thanks

Are they always showing it with Eng subs at Yongsan or just specific slots?

I went and saw the Korean, non-English dubbed version, and amazingly I was able to follow the plot line fairly easily without having the greatest mastery of Korean. My wife was with me so between the few times she actually had to translate something for me and the action in the movie, it was well worth the ticket price. Others might have differing opinions, but I would say it is one of the better produced Korean films this year or in the last 3 years for that matter.

Getting information on "The Crossing" with English was really hard too. We saw it at COEX megabox. The only English showings were at 11 am on a Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily I had the Wednesday off.

The other theater I heard that had it was at Chungmuro, but I don't know any schedule information.

Check their website for timesit's something on the order of 5 shows per day.

The times for Thursday and Friday were 12:50, 3:40, 6:30, 9:20, and 12:10. Didn't check anything after that.

Saw it tonight, it was pretty good. Kept hoping to see Clint, though.

So does it have any resemblance to Clint's film?

Take Seoul subway line 1 or the Jungang Line to Yongsan Station. The CGV is in the I-Park Mall complex attached to the station.
