What's the best, fastest, cheapest etc way of getting from the singapore airport to downtown?
The above was the original question, and I'll be taking the MRT. If you had 6 hours what would you do. I've got a 9 hour stop over, but with travel time etc, I figure 6 hours in the city.
Suggestions? I've done searches online, but more wondering what people who have been there suggest.

Sleep at the airport.
I guess you could go to the Geylang area and ummmm eat some food and drink beer. Or go to Bugis or Orchard Road and shop or some crap. |

Depends what time you're there. The night market in Chinatown in usually pretty cool. During the day, I like the tekka center and wet market in Little India. |

yeah. Bugis junction is also near little india. I love the food there; my last day there I had like 5 full meals.
The zoo is pretty cool too, but you'd have to take both the metro and bus to get to it. Probably a little too time consuming for you.
The quays near the CBD are pleasant to walk along, especially at night.
The national museum is excellent and gives you a good history of the city-state. It is near the quays if memory serves.
Have fun. Singapore isn't cheap compared to the rest of the region, but it has tons of food options and has an excellent transportation system. |

Enjoy your 6 hours having fun, don't waste it reading a John Grisham at the airport.
Cheers! |

Take a taxi. 20$sgd, no more. Very quick.
Singapore has much to see, even in 6 hours. |
