Does anyone know where I can find form 129 to download? I need to send it with a package to the consulate to apply for a videocam interview. I would sincerely appreciate any help locating this. |

Your recruiter should have already sent one to you (try asking!)
or you can often download one from a main Korean overseas embassy website |

Form 129? No idea what that is. Can you copy and paste or link to the site where it says you need this? |

Actually, the officer at the consulate told me that I would need to come in and get one to fill it out. I am trying to do a webcam interview to avoid the 6 1/2 hour drive.
"Teaching Foreign
Languages
(E-2)
- Certificate of academic degree or diploma of graduation
- Employment contract
- Documents regarding establishment of school or organization
- Letter of personal reference notarized (form 129)"
I found this reference on http://metropolitan-express.com/koreanvisa.html. This is a Chicago based visa service, and I am seeking my visa from the Chicago consulate.
Thanks for any assistance that you may offer. |

All I can say is that I am in the process of obtaining my first E2 visa from a third country. Yes, it is possible! It is taking time, but I have some time. This interview crap is nonsense. My degree is in the process of being verified in Korea. Once that is done, I will be issued the number for me to get my visa in Bangkok. At the same time, I am having my CBC aposstiled ... I have never heard of such a form. |

You don't need form 129. That's submitted by your employer to the Immigration office in Korea. It's essentially a letter of sponsorship.
All you need for the consulate in Chicago (speaking from personal experience here) is - your visa issuance confirmation number (you'll get this, most likely by e-mail, from your employer or recruiter)
- passport
- visa application form (available at the consulate or download from here)
- Consul's Checklist for E-2 Applicant (again, available at the consulate or download here)
- a sealed set of transcripts
- $45 cash or money order for the visa fee
- and a self-addressed stamped Express Mail envelope to have your passport returned to you unless you're picking it up in person.

The first consulate officer that I spoke with told me that I needed a visa application form -- they didn't mention the checklist. I asked my recruiter where I could get one. He stated that the recruitment agency had taken care of the application form for me, and that I was mistaken. When I called back to double check the officer told me that I didn't need a visa application form, but I did need to send in the form 129. (My suspicious nature makes me wonder if I was misinformed as punishment for calling and questioning my initial instructions. I fedexed my documents to the Chicago Consulate.) Then I read your post. I downloaded the forms, signed them and faxed them to the Chicago Consulate. Of course, they could not accommodate me with the webcam interview, but at least I know that they have reviewed my file and it is complete. My interview is in the morning, and I arrive in Korea on the 1st.
Thank you very much for your assistance. If there is ever anything that I might help you with, I will be happy to do so. |
