I have been shopping for good speakers for a year now and haven't found what I want....well, at a decent price anyways. My uncle runs Klipsch speakers in his house....I remember them being really good all round!!! I just saw them on tv the other day and it got me thinking again...

Basically, I am looking to buy speakers, and then buy a receiver to match them. I'm looking for a 5.1 channel system....don't really care for more. Somewhere in the 3,000,000won range is where I am trying to stay.

Here is what I have found Klipsch wise....

These RF-62's look slick!!

These RF-52's are apparently good too, but cheaper obviously. But that leaves a little more room for the receiver to end up around the 3 million mark.
Just saw this on the next page....again, looks decent!! RX-V863 + RF-62. But they are using RB-61's instead of the surround speakers, RS-61's. Receiver wise, I am open to anything. Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Yamaha....

Anyone own these??? Comments?? Or can recommend something else??

I love the sound of Paradigms. When you're ready to buy, check out www.avprime.co.kr . They had the best prices I could find in Seoul. They have some speakers upstairs you can audition.

Klipsch is nice, I seriously think you ought to listen to some Paradigms. You're welcome to come over and hear mine next week if you like. AVprime has prices for all of those. Check out that link. I went in, transferred money to them, and had them same-day.

I'm running 2 Paradigm Monitor 7's as mains, and 2 Paradigm Mini-Monitors as surrounds. My center is an older Paradigm CC-350. I also have a PDR-12" sub from Paradigm as well.

My receiver is a Marantz SR-8002. It sounds excellent, but I'd look pretty hard at Denon, followed by Yamaha and Onkyo... Onkyos get really hot while being used, though. I'd probably go with Denon this time around, as they can be updated by internet firmware. My Marantz can't, and it has a few small bugs.

If you really want a great deal and save some money on a receiver, then look at the Marantz SR-8001. It's an older model, but is mostly only lacking the ability to decode the blu-ray codecs on-board. Many blu-ray players do their own internal decoding now, and you don't need it. I've heard both onboard player decoding vs. in-receiver decoding, and there is no difference.

By the way, AVPrime's actual prices are lower than what you see on that site. They will deal.

I auditioned tens of speakers in the 500,000 - 2,500,000 won range and I really loved the Quad 22L2 / Quad 12L2 speakers, great highs and lows with a lush midrange. Incredible price for what I got IMO.

I use a Marantz receiver as a processor, with a Ceratec power amp. Love it!

But you've had the best advice though, get yaself over to avprime and audition! Let your ears decide!

I've bought plenty of gear from www.enterav.co.kr and I've been happy.

That shop is not far from the Youngsan Gu-cheon office.

Unfortunately, they don't have so many models available for an audition. They have 2 rooms with several speakers, but not necessarily the ones you want. They have many more in storage, though.

For that price? Good luck.

I think you're better off adding a nice set of speakers to your computer.

Well, I didn't make it to the shop today. I had to go pick up my laptop and then meet a guy at the homebrew shop to talk beer recipes. Was pretty pooped so just came home afterwards. Vacation is starting this Friday so I will get out and check out some speakers next weekend.

What's the word on Mission speakers?? I have heard decent things about them, but have never heard them myself.

Yesterday I went to AVPrime and then a few places in Technoland (the people in technoland drive me nuts).

Anyways, I had a listen to some Mission M34i's - which sounded a bit muffled to me. Wharfedale Diamond 9.5's - They sounded really nice....very clean and handled mid and highs very well and had a decent amount of bass. But I was really surprised when the guy recommend some Dali Concept 9's. I have never heard of Dali, but i thought these speakers sounded great!!! They could have used a hair more bass...but even then, sounded very nice.

Need to do some reading on the net I guess....

I've heard the Dali Concept 8 and they are good performing speakers. You won't go wrong with Dali as a brand, a great Danish company with high standards and quality control.

There are so many quality speaker companys out there!

Well, after lots of reading and another listen I decided to go with the Dali Concept 6's (I posted the wrong model before, speaker names were starting to blend together).

It was a toss up between the Wharfedale 9.5's and the ones I got. In the end, I just went with my ear cuz I'm the one that has to listen to them. I also picked up a Denon 1908.

Got it all setup last night and it sounds great in my place!!! The speakers disappear, especially in stereo mode....It is very hard to tell where they are with your eyes closed. I'm loving them!!!

Vacation is here, so i guess its time to tap into the 250+ HD movie collection and enjoy my new speakers!!!

Thanks to everyone who gave advice here and in PM's. Very much appreciated!!
