I decided to float a resume on this site and was immediately overwhelmed with offers from recruiters. They were calling me at all hours day and night. I almost bit on one contract. I even sent in some of my documents. I inadvertently left one thing out of the package or I would have been stuck with that recruiter and the school that she picked out for me.
What made me back up was that she was in this huge hurry with everything. She called me every single day! When I floated that resume out there, I was thinking September. Suddenly, it was like "hurry up we need you here the last week in July!" and they had a hard time taking no for an answer I'd say no and they'd act like they didn't understand me. I can't pack up and go that fast and I thought that it would take some time to get the visa anyway. Why are they in such a hurry? |

Listen carefully. I've been through this a few times. Tell them exactly what you want. They will throw the crappiest jobs at you for the first month or so. Also get as many recruiters going as possible, I know they are annoying, but so is working for a dump for an entire year. The jobs that they offer will get better and better as the weeks go by. They will realize you are not stupid and realize they can't fob off any old job. Most importantly, you will never be placed on a stack of unemployables because you are being difficult. There are three times as many jobs as people now, do yourself a favour and get a good one, this can be the best year of your life or the worst, do your homework. |
