Ross Perot, Mr. Chart of Doom, has a website called Perot Charts. It is quite informative and frankly a tad unnerving.

I could expand this post by linking to come of the pictures, but can't post pictures. |

Unless we solve the problems caused by entitlement spending, there will be little money left to do anything else in the future. Over time, our standard of living, our national security, our standing in the world and the value of our currency could all be threatened. |
This is exactly the situation the Republican Party was bent on creating, as spilled by David Stockman almost 3 decades ago. He said he helped Reagan run the country into debt to create such a situation. Yes, tax cuts sound good, but the public still wanted government services and expected the gov't to keep its promises. The way around it was to run up defense costs to such a level that the gov't would be bankrupted and unable to pay the bills for the social programs the public wanted but that particular wing of the Republican Party didn't want but knew they couldn't persuade the people to cut.
The Reagan legacy of massive deficit spending, states rights, fear-mongering (the double-barrelled 'threat' of Commies and minorities) and class warfare is finally paying off. |

You refer to the 'starve the beast' game. I agree.
This game has worked because the dollar is the reserve currency. As that comes to and end, so must the financial imbalances and deficit spending. |
