How does this site work? It seems like they list a bunch of cheap flights, but there aren't any seats available for them.

Do you buy a ticket and just sit around hoping that it'll open up?

Do you buy a bunch of different tickets, wait for one to open up, and then cancel the rest?

I know a lot of people have used them before, and I'm curious to how it works.

A lot of the prices on there are ridiculously cheap. How do you get those seats?

You need a Korean id to book anything through this website (unless they have changed in the past 2 years).

However, you can simply call their hotline and do business over the phone - much easier.

Sometimes they have an English speaker.

If there are no seats remaining, they cannot book anything for you- you may be put on a waiting list. If so, yes, you have to sit around waiting.

In the past I have booked several flights and once I was confirmed for one of them, I cancelled the rest.

You really need to get in early on this website as it has become fairly well-known for being one of the cheapest websites in Korea.

When you booked several flights, how did the reservation system work? Did you need to use a credit card to reserve?

Check the tax. The flight may be super cheap but the tax is usually 1/3 to 1/2 the ticket price.

Wow, those taxes are super duper high. Is that an indirect tariff on purchasing non-Korean goods and services due to international travel causing you take Korean money out of Korea and sell it even though the service is on a Korean airline? They don't want the Korean won leaving Korea as that means the country loses wealth and a positive current account is what makes this little country keep on developing. Everything here is geared with the assumption that you're Korean if in Korea spending Korean won so the protectionist economic policies seem silly and ridiculous to us foreigners. Wow, they stick you with a super won sucking syringe to leave Korea or buy foreign.

I never could get whypaymore to give me a quote. Stumped. I can't get past the point of entering the departure and return dates where you see little calendar icons that are supposed to let you enter a date, but doesn't do anything. Site appears to be junk or simply doesn't use the same logic a typical travel site as we know them do. I'm looking for more travel sites myself, but keep getting higher quotes with a severely limited selection. Kangsan is the best I've found and they have 2 offices; one in Daegu and the other in Busan. I'm getting the best prices that include tax and it's all in English using Kangsan. Korea just doesn't have the convenient, extensive, and accurate travel sites like Western countries offer. A phone call is the best you can do and only when you are ready to purchase as prices are volatile in this age of hyper inflation due to rising oil costs and only will go up if you wait an extra day or even a few hours.

The site doesnt work with firefox, so unless you are using IE, then that could be your problem right there.

Doesnt the tax figure include the fuel surcharge which is quite ample at the moment.

I figured that much too, but if you read posts, people here have successfully bought cheap tickets on whypaymore. Its not a gimmick if people are actually getting cheap tickets.

I know it must be a good site if you can understand how to use it.

The problem I'm having is after entering the info into a quick search, I get a picture of a computer monitor with a hand coming out it. No flights or quotes are displayed despite having seemingly done everything right. Maybe it's saying nothing is available. I don't know.

I hate to say it, but your best bet is probably to go through a travel agent. I'm notoriously frugal. I've spent hours before checking on all the sites, but travel agents have always had the best deals. I know people have reported getting good deals on whypaymore, kayak, and xanadu, but I've never had any luck there.
