With luck this rain will fill the reservoirs and make up for the lack of rain during the rainy season. It's name is Kalmaegi and the paper says it was expected to be just off Jeju-do this morning.

I'll bet when it finishes real summer will be here. Mad

it sure is coming down. We play soccer in to on turf for a few hours yesterday though and have another game today. I heard Kalmaegi means "seagul".

Yes, it does mean seagull. The last two times they gave typhoons a Korean name--Maemi (cicada) and Nabi (butterfly)--they were quite nasty and destructive.

I was in Jeju when Mami hit. It was nature at it's most awsome. The palm trees were fully bending in half. Being on a bus in a washout with that amount of water was so dangerous.

But the scariest part wasn't the weather itself. I nearly got trampled to death by Koreans rushing into a building to avoid water. No shit, I paniced because I was unable to touch the ground due to all the people trying to get in thru the doorway at the same time. The dooor was locked! It was 10 times worse than any mosh pit. There was fear in the air.

All the airlines wouldn't fly me the hell out, except Korean air who actually waited till the cyclone passed and flew behind it back to Seoul. Can you say turbulance?

Not a drop of rain here. Yet. At the very least it should clean some of the filth out of the air. And then it'll be back to Satan's armpit-like heat and humidity by Monday morning! Very Happy

The typhoon petered out somewhere over China yesterday. It won't be much more than a tropical storm/depression. So Korea will get wet, but I think Taiwan got the worst of it.

Quite useful, for future storms, since Kalmaegi has already been taken off of the site.

If I remember correctly from school days, tropical type storms gain strength over the ocean, and lose power considerably over land. It probably didn't have a chance since it's path went so far into China.

I kind of wish Korean's monsoon season was more intense. I'm talking about daily rain for 30 days straight. But no..... it's more like 1 or 2 days rain and then 10 days without rain, then another 1 or 2 days.
