Here's the deal. I'm going to be getting a new passport when I go back home in a few months. Just taking a short break from Korea. Now, I plan to return(on this new passport) and do a visa run to Japan. I want to search the job market in person, not thousands of miles away. So, I'm wondering if Immigration will give me any grief because I'll have a shiny new passport that isn't filled to the brim with entrance and exit stamps(such as my current one has). I don't have any blackmarks on my record(as far as I know). I'm just hoping that I don't have to go all the way home for that idiotic interview, considering that I've spent over 6 years in Korea in total. My question is: Has anyone, since the new regulations were put into place, gone home, gotten a new passport, come back to Korea and processed the visa paperwork WITHOUT being hassled about having a new passport.

I know that everything is computerized and I'm sure they can link my current passport to the one that I will get back home. However, I always take into account that this is Korea and that they operate on a different, ahem, wavelength. So, any help would be appreciated.Real interested to hear if anyone has done this. Thanks.

You'll be fine. They see people with new passports all the time.
