|
|
Plasma screen seem to be dropping in price.
I want to view internet and regular cable TV through multiple screens.
How can I do this and what software and components do I need to connect the screens and to contol the channels remotely via my computer or remote control?
Basically, I want a sports bar in my apartment and the ability to view separate events on each monitor. |

Are you wanting to control them all through one unit? Or just have different TVs? You can buy a nicer home stereo receiver, and it will have the capability to send the video to different zones, but I'm not sure if it can do video to different zones at the same time. I know my receiver can do that to at least two zones. I have a Marantz SR-8002, but I didn't buy it for that feature, so I couldn't tell you about it.
You might be looking for something like this: http://www.crestron.com/products/show_products.asp?type=residential&cat=1012&subcat=1052&id=250
In any case, you'd find that kind of thing in Youngsan.
It sounds like you're just going to be splitting the cable signal, and may need a booster to up the power on the signal coming into your house?
My sister's husband is the international manager for a Fortune 500 company. They built a massive house in the US, and it has wiring run through three floors into multiple zones. It's set up to be controlled by one unit, and video can be sent from one machine to any room in the house, or multiple streams at once. You're talking about thousands of dollars in equipment, though. They've got the wiring in, but are debating how much they "need" the whole shebang, so for now, they're just using the wires as local.
If you can really explain what you want to do, the mother of all sites to ask your question on is here: http://www.avsforum.com/
There are people on that thing who build whole-house and company systems for a living (and for tens of thousands of dollars). |

My idea is to have a main set to run auxilliarys such as cable and gaming systems through and then 3 other wall-mounted plasmas tied into main cable and run internet programming. Nothing fancy.
I want to tune them using the cable remote and/or computer.
Any ideas?

| Sesms u'd need a different connection for each different station, but really i'm just guessing...must be a way to do it from one. I have a tbroad internet connection for tv and another KT one for internet...KT gave me the box for viewing tv for free but I disconnected it as it's too complicated for me since I don't read Korean....It's a menu system not flick through so u have to be able to read Korean, but i've heard said it has a lot of good movies. |

I wonder if I'd need an antenna for each TV patched into the main cable box?? Could I get one remote control work for each TV?
Also, how would one go about viewing internet programming on each TV screen wirelessly?
Those are my two major questions paraphrased.
Monitor A: Standing. Connected to cable box, used also for gaming.
Monitor B: Wall mounted. Linked to computer wirelessly.
Monitor C/D: Wall mounted. Toggle between cable and internet. |

Might want to read THIS. You could run a slingbox/apple TV and than have all the monitors hooked up via wireless LAN. Or you just run a coaxial into the monitors that you want a hardline cable, and use wireless internet. Switching back and forth can be done via remote or software. I would recommend having a central computer (mainframe) connect to all the TV's. |

The usage of "monitor" was perhaps a bit confusing as I was using it in reference to a TV screen, not PC.
Screen A: Standing. Connected to cable box, used also for gaming.
Screen B: Wall mounted. Linked to computer wirelessly.
Screen C/D: Wall mounted. Toggle between cable and internet.
I'm giving everyone else and myself a headache.
Who here knows about these A/V things? |
