If she floats then she is not a witch.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around: If she floats she is a witch on the principle that water is like holy water and holy water rejects her. Take her out and burn her. If she sinks and drowns then she was innocent. Oops.

And please, let's not dis Madison County.

I don't find it particularly hard to believe there are witches in the 21st Century. Time does not have a noticeable impact on the number of idiots in the human population. Further proof: there are plenty of idiots who believe chants and potions have any effect. The war against ignorance is never ending and the battle must be fought with each generation.

I hope you say the same thing to all your Christian friends and co-workers, at every available opportunity.

Witches who fly on brooms? No.
People who act like witches? Yes.

Once we had a witch in my village in the spring of 1650. So we bound her feet and legs and cast her into the pond one evening.

Imagine our embarressment when she failed to resurface. I remember, because I'm a vampire. Or a werewolf...I keep forgetting.

Dad, you keep forgetting because your village had an Ergot outbreak that summer, and you were all pretty much foaming at the mouth at one point or other. Twisted Evil

Sweet crackback. That didn't enter my origional thought. I was thinking it was rabies or hangover from the little ice age. Or maybe just a hangover.

An alternative answer. I might be completely full of shit.

Anyway, to set the record straight, in 1650 my forefathers were rebuilding after the thirty years war. If they had time for witch hunts, God Bless 'em.

Like most things in this world, religion can be analyzed in terms of a combination of three modes of material nature: goodness, passion, and ignorance.

Religion in the mode of ignorance includes stuff like witchcraft and voodoo.

Where does Almighty Lord Satan, Ruler of Mankind and all the Cosmos fit into your equation? That's what I want to know.

I prefer to say it to eco-terrorists.

Satan is probably derived from Lord Shiva - the powerful demigod in charge of universal destruction, the mode of ignorance and ghosts, goblins, witches, etc.

I don't usually link to "new-age" sites (because they lack an authoritative approach) but this one seems to draw some interesting connections between Shiva, Jesus, Satan - and UFOs...

Btw, I wouldn't brand "Bramble" as an eco-terrorist (a very politicized term) although in general I do favor the branding of feminists ... Twisted Evil
