What would you pay for a good used TV ?? I'm looking to buy a TV but I would like opinions of what others feel is a fair price for a 1-year old TV. Assume the TV is in normal condition, or as close to perfect as a used-TV can be.

Brand: Samsung, PAVV, LG, or another high end model.

42- or 50-inch PDP .... 700,000 won??

40- or 42-inch LCD ... 600,000 won??

I see other TV's being sold on this site. A 47-inch rear projection is 550,000 won, and a 32-inch LCD was going for 460,000.

Why don't I ever see the bigger LCD or PDP tv's on here?? Anyways, what would a good rate be for those TV's if they ever showed up?

Cheers

Assuming great condition, I think 600,000 for a 42 inch LCD TV would be excellent.

Hanguker,

Actually I'm trying to see what I would get for a TV if I bought it brand-new this year and then sold it next year.

I never see anyone on here selling a high-end LCD or PDP. I wasn't sure if anyone would buy something like that even if it were offered.

If I bought a TV this year for 1,000,000 or 1,100,000 won, then I'd be looking to sell it next year for about 600,000 or 700,000. I wasn't sure if anyone would buy TV's worth that much money though.

I'm considering buying an expensive TV but there is a moderate chance I'll be moving to China next year. For that reason, I'm unsure if I want to buy an expensive piece of electonics that might not be in demand when I'm leaving.

I'm interested in knowing the same thing. About a couple of months ago I bought a Samsung 40" LCD (LN40A650 - higher end model). I treated myself and paid the extra money for the newest features. 70,000:1 contrast, 3ms refresh rate, 1080P Full HD, etc. It's a fantastic TV. I paid 1.9 M Won. Any thoughts on what it might be worth when I leave in less than a year? Is 1 M asking too much? I plan to have it maintained in like-new condition in a pet-free, smoke-free apt.

If it's not for a long time, why buy such an expensive TV knowing you will barely get half the cost? Normally people buy such a TV hoping it will last them for years to come. Unless you're lavish and a money fiend, go ahead, but it wouldn't be a responsible choice if you don't have a stable income or money to waste.

hfrancis,

In my opinion I think you will have trouble selling your TV. You will need someone that has your tastes in TVs because if not someone will just buy a brand new TV for the same price you're asking. Agreed, it won't have the extra features you are offering, but unless someone cares about those then they won't pay for them.

Bells and whistles unfortunately don't have a high resale value. It's like souping up a car, you just don't get much back for the extras.

I think people want the TYPE of TV and the SIZE, and those that want certain features are the minority. I know that I'm that way, and when I'm looking for a TV the best deal is the TV with the biggest size and best price, including a decent brand reputation.

If you want to sell your TV for 1.0 million and it was worth 1.9 million, the deal is obviously very good, but you have to start selling it REALLY REALLY early because you need to find someone that WANTS all those bells and whistles.

I wish you good luck with the TV, but I think reality will show that buying the bells and whistles is good for a long-term hold.

Just my opinion.
