Blaming Bush for a bad world economy is like blaming Saudi Arabia for high oil prices. It's way too complex to blame any one man, cartel or nation.
Fundamentally, I think it has a lot to do with people aspiring to live a life they really can't afford. Banks have been all too willing to give credit to people who can't afford to pay it back. It's not just poor people. In fact, it's mainly about middle and upper middle class people who could live comfortably on their salaries but choose to live in huge houses, drive massive SUVs, buy iPhones for the whole family, giant plasma TVs, etc.
The problem is the whole economy is based on people buying crap they really don't need with money they really don't have. And at this point the cure is worse than the disease. |

Bush may not be 100% to blame, but he certainly bears the responsibility for the crisis. At least from a governmental responsibility aspect.
A lot of the crap falls on the hands of McCain's former co-chair, Phil Gramm. This royal asshole is responsible for the Enron loophole which drove up the gas prices, the electrical rate hikes, and the subprime mortgage bubble. Without him there would be no speculation in the oil markets.

Solutions, solutions...well we can't keep bailing out banks. It's going to take a lot of re-regulation, failed banks, and probably the next president will have to pull a New Deal out when it's all said and done. |

Yeah, I strongly agree. The accounting especially. SarOx did not help. |
