|
|
Just got off the phone with someone from the SMOE for my interview... Just wondering if they were always so short (Just under 10 min), or if I said something wrong...
Very basic interview... We went over my admin stuff (double checking the university I graduated from, teaching experience, and medical form)... Followed by two questions - "Why do you want to teach in Korea?", and a question about my general teaching philosophy... Finished by asking me if I had any questions (I had three or four... asking about the next step in the application process if accepted by the SMOE, the hours of work, when I would need to arrive, etc...) and then a thank you very much, you'll be hearing from your recruiter in the next day or two as to whether or not you have been accepted...
I don't know... It just seemed overly short, especially when compared to the 20 min. interview I had with the recruiter... Your thoughts? |

Sounds like everyone else's interview. SMOE trusts the recruiters to send them quality applicants. If you made it past the recruiter, you are in unless you completely screw up the SMOE interview, saying something like "I want to come to Korea because I head the soju is cheap and the women in Itaewon are easy." |

Thanks Bib... puts my mind at rest... Although I'm sure I'll start checking my email 6000 times an hour starting tomorrow instead of the usual 5000 ... I wonder if they keep them short to save on long distance phone bills... |

Typical SMOE contract that I've seen a hundred times in the "post your contract" thread, which is why I didn't post it... Not sure as to where, from what I've heard from everyone you don't really find out until you get there... The contract itself was a schedule H - 1.8 a month... I guess they don't take student teaching into account when handing out salary ... |
