Just found out from immigration in Chonan that even public school teachers were must submit an official background check which has been stamped by their embassy before they can change renew their visa. If they have already submitted a background check but without the embassy stamp then they will need to resubmit this check next time they wish to change or extend their E2 visa. The background check must be submitted with the embassy stamp within six months from the CBC's date of issued. |

I assume that an notarized/apostilled CBC from your state's Department of State is sufficient in lieu of an embassy stamp for Americans? |

Were you hired through EPIK or directly by the school or local school board?
Public school teachers invited by a Provincial Office of Education are exempt from providing a criminal record check the first time they extend their contract and sojourn. So, if you obtained your visa by a Letter of Appointment, you should be exempt. But if you got a visa confirmation number, you would have to follow the same steps as everyone else. This would seem to include those who were initially hired by hagwons and then transferred to public schools by means of a change of workplace application at Immi. |

Yes, I am exempt for now but I'll still have to go to Seoul and get my CRC stamped by the Irish Embassy before August 12th if I don't want to have to go through this process all over again in February.
My problem right now is that I have summer camps for the next two weeks and unless I go on Thursday or Friday I won't be able to go until the 11th. The fact that Chonan immigration only opens on Wednesdays is not helping either.

Immigration will only except CRC's that are less than six months old and mine was issued February 12th ergo it will be useless come August 12th.

If you haven't been back home since submitting your last CRC, why would you need to submit another one? Unless I guess you could possibly have been charged with a crime back in your home country since... Yeah, I guess that's it.
Nevermind. |

Correct me if I wrong but doesn't one actually have to be physically in the country to be charge with a crime? |

Well there could be a warrant for your arrest that would show up on a criminal report. If that were the case, and you applied for a criminal check, that would come up. |
